Summary
This integrated practical and theoretical nonsterile compounding course is designed exclusively for pharmacists, technicians and assistants who would like to expand their compounding knowledge. This hands-on, 2.5-day training course will provide the foundation for the novice compounder or simply a compounding refresher — and it’s now taught in our brand-new, state-of-the-art training lab!
This course will introduce techniques such as how to compound lip balms, suppositories/Rectal Rockets, suspensions, animal treats, troches, capsules and so much more. Other topics covered in the course to help enhance compounding education include pharmacy safety, Canadian regulations, “Ask the Expert” sessions with a PCCA clinical compounding pharmacist and much more!
Each participant will receive a certificate of completion upon conclusion of the course.
There is no prerequisite for this course.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
- Identify safety protocols in the compounding pharmacy.
- Identify and describe current pharmacy-related regulations and standards for nonsterile compounding.
- Learn how a pharmacy software system can help automate pharmacy workflow, improve efficiency, and save lives.
- Describe the elements of proper dispensing of compounds.
- Distinguish between common compounding dosage forms and different administration routes.
- Calculate appropriate compounding measurements involving compound formulas.
- Identify pharmaceutical compounding equipment and its appropriate use.
