Used primarily to prepare solutions, suspensions and lotions. Due to the delicate nature of glass, a grinding motion instead of a “hammering” motion should be used with caution when triturating hard particles or grinding tablets. Glass is non-staining, which makes it a good choice when using flavor oils and colors. It is not recommended to place glass mortars in an autoclave. Small air pockets in the mortar tend to expand, causing the mortar to break. Also, when pits, gouges or cracks are noticed in the glass, it is time to discard the mortar. Dishwasher-safe.
