The FlackTek SpeedMixer DAC 1200-500 is one of the most advanced mixing

the SpeedMixer in the pharmacy industry. We have tested a variety of
preparations in the FlackTek SpeedMixer DAC 1200-500, including creams,
gels, suspensions and powder triturations. We have a growing number of formulas for the device, which are available in our formula database, and we will continue
to develop more. We offer a variety of FlackTek SpeedMixer containers and
accessories as well.
How the SpeedMixer Works
The SpeedMixer is a bladeless mixing system that uses a dual, asymmetric
centrifuge. It works by spinning a high-speed mixing arm in one direction
while the mixing container rotates in the opposite direction. This
combination of forces enables incredibly fast mixing, and yet the machine’s
precision construction gives it a balance that allows amazingly quiet
operation. This technology in turn helps remove air from formulations,
which is a common complaint associated with bladed mixing systems.
To ensure that pharmacies can use the full functionality of the SpeedMixer,
FlackTek recommends that they purchase all of the container holders. This
allows them to mix preparations in all available container sizes. FlackTek
also recommends purchasing the
SpeedMixer base stand
so that the machine is stable, at an optimal height to work with and easy
to move as necessary. This saves much-needed countertop space in the lab as
well.

PCCA’s Compounding Tips for the FlackTek SpeedMixer

Scaling up or down and using a different size container than what is
reflected in a specific PCCA formulation can lead to varying results.
If it is necessary to make a different size batch or use another
container, the process should be re-validated through potency testing.

container should be approximately 50% to allow adequate room for mixing
